Khanpur is located at . It has an average elevation of 207&nbsp;metres (679&nbsp;feet).And in the past khanpur was the Estate of Nawab Sher Khan as titled by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir. His Name was Sheikh Rukhunidin Khan and was the Tribal Chief of the Pakhtoon tribe of Bazidkhel Daudzai. He had his Estates in the Peshawer Valley which is presently in Pakistan. He was a General with the Emperor Jahangir and was given the Jagir of Gujrat and Khanpur for his outstanding services. On his death the Emperor gifted his titles and estates to his brothers and sons. There are still members of the family holding small land holdings and living in basi bulandshaher distt. One part moved to Pakistan on partition of the subcontinent. The Family participated in the freedoom fighting movement of 1857 against the British. On losing the struggle the ruler and head of Khanpur Haji Muneer Khan was imprisoned and sentenced to life banishment to the Andaman Islands. The State and lands were confiscated and the titles given by the Moghals were lost. His wife claimed the lands around Basi and 4 other villages as her dowry and won them in a British Indian Court.
