Khost wa Fereng district is the easternmost district of Baghlan province, Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountains. Its capital is Khost wa Fereng. The population of the district was estimated to be around 56,678 in 2004 of which ethnic Tajiks made up 70% and Hazaras 30% of the total population.

The district subdivided from the biggest district (Khost wa Fring) of Baghlan province in 2003, is the easternmost district of Baghlan province, Afghanistan in the Hindu Kush mountains. Its capital is Khost wa Fring. The name of Fring comes from French word (Fringe)means margin,The district is located in a margin and strategic point of the country, the importance of this strategic point.Some ideas talk the original historical people of Fring had been came from Europe.The Afghan National hero Ahmad shah Masoud and Afghan current Voice president Marshal Mohammad Qasim Fahim were living for long time in this district during attacks of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics to Panjshir,The strategic importance of Khost wa Fring was clear to Mr Ahmad shah Masoud and it was Clear to USSR army as well, attack of USSR commandos in 1994 to Fring district made it more clear to Masoud so he was using this strategical point for long time even during fighting against International terrorisms and Taliban.
