Kolar Plateau

Kolar Plateau lies to the south Karnataka ,formerly Mysore state, in Southern India. The famous Kolar gold fields are part of the region.

It is, basically, a dry zone, with abundant scrub vegetation suitable only for Sheep husbandry.It is also famour for silk and milk as many farmers depending on silkworms and cattle.annual rainfall is much similar to the most of the regions of rayalaseema andhrapradesh and north arkot region however south kolar district regions share much of the climate of western bangalore. kolar plateau is covered with valleys which helps in channelling of water from one lake to other which are arranged in the form of a chain.

The region produces woolen blankets, leather good, handloomed silk, pencils and coarse cotton fabrics.
