Description:
Krittibas Ojha () or Kirttibas Ojha ()Sen, Sukumar (1991, reprint 2007). Bangala Sahityer Itihas, Vol.I, , Kolkata: Ananda Publishers, ISBN 81-7066-966-9, pp.105-10 (c. 15th century) was a medieval Bengali poet. His major contribution to Bangla literature and culture was the translation of the great Indian epic Ramayana to Bangla. His work, the Sri Ram Panchali, is popularly known as the Krittivasi Ramayan. In 1803, his work, edited by Jaygopal Tarkalamkar, was published by the Serampore Mission Press.

Life

Krittibas Ojha was born in a Brahmin family in Phulia village in the present-day Nadia district of West Bengal state. He was son of Banamali Ojha and grandson of Murari Ojha.
