The
Lachlan Valley Railway Society Cooperative Limited is a non-profit
rail preservation society based in the NSW Central Western town of
Cowra,
New South Wales,
Australia. The museum's ex-NSWGR fleet ranges from their operational steam and diesel locomotives, to the fleet of heritage passenger railway carriages and the "Tin Hare" CPH railmotors in its collection. The society is based in the former
NSWGR locomotive depot in Cowra, and operates both short and long distance trips from this depot to destinations within NSW.
About the site
LVR's authentic (circa 1923) locomotive depot and steam roundhouse play home for the museum, hosting the four steam locos and as a workshop for maintenance on the operating fleet and restoration work. The museums is currently working on the restoration job for and
DEB railcar and ex-NSWGR carriage, IFV 931 being turned into a bar for mainline use.
Accidents
On 15 April 2006, an LVR volunteer worker was injured at
Ariah Park, west of
Temora NSW, and subsequently died from his injuries. He was injured while coupling a train to its locomotive.
