The Louisiana State Senate (French: Sénat de Louisiane) is the upper house of the state legislature of Louisiana. All Senators serve four year terms and are assigned multiple committees to work on. The Republicans control the State Senate following a Special Election Victory in District 26 by Jonathan W. Perry. Previously the Democratic Party held a majority in the Senate and the Senate President is Democratic Senator Joel Chaisson from Destrehan, Louisiana.
