Maninagar is an area of
Ahmedabad city,
Gujarat,
India. It is located in the southern part of the city. It can be divided into two regions - Maninagar East and Maninagar West, separated by the Maninagar Railway Station. Its pincode is 380008.
Location
The
Kankaria lake is situated in this area. A Garden is built in the centre of the Kankaria lake named as Naginawadi.It was developed by Ruler Ahmed shah. And there is a way that takes you to the center Garden. This area also hosts a train station on the Ahmedabad-
Mumbai line where most of the major trains stop. There are many schools in this area too. Maninagar is divided by the Railway Station into East and West Maninagar, most Hindus live on the west side where as the east side has a majority of Christian & some other Population. And so around 8 churches are located in this area and many temples as well.
Another such instance of refugee settlement is found in Dakshini society, a predominantly
Marathi community, which itself hails from
Maharashtra; gave space and shelter to
Sindhis uprooted in the
Partition of 1947. Dakshini society is also a place where some of the biggest Ganesh idols are worshipped prior to the popular festival Ganesh Chaturthi.
Nowadays the BRTS work is completed but the traffic problem still occurs.
