Masood Khan is a career diplomat who is the current Pakistan Ambassador to
China since September 2008.

Pakistan to the
United Nations Office at Geneva from 2005 to 2008. He also stayed as the chairman of the Committee on Internet Governance at the
World Summit on the Information Society in 2005.

Early life
Masood Khan has a bachelors in Economics and Political Science (1970) and masters in English (1976) from
University of the Punjab. He worked as a broadcaster for
Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) from 1973 to 1975 and as the main presenter for radio and television broadcast at
Allama Iqbal Open University from 1978 to 1979. After that he was the English newscaster at Radio Pakistan and presented programs on
Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) till 1982. During this time he was also a lecturer at
Allama Iqbal Open University.
Early diplomatic career
Masood Khan joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1980. His foreign assignments include: Third Secretary in
Beijing (1984-1986), Second Secretary and First Secretary at
The Hague (1986-1989) and Counselor at
United Nations,
New York (1993-1997) and Political Counselor in
Washington, D.C. (1997-2002).
