Memorial High School
was formed in 2000 as a result of the consolidation of Victoria High School and Stroman High School. The Senior Campus was warned by the state due to a high dropout rate in 2004. The warning was removed the following year when the attendance leveled.
Memorial HS is a Class 5A school that serves the needs of 3500+ students. The old Stroman campus houses the freshmen while the old VHS campus houses the sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The school mascot is the Viper and school colors are Black, Blue, Silver, and White.
By students' junior year (or at age 16), students are allowed to take classes at Career Development School (CDS). The classes offered include: Auto Collision, Auto Technology, Building Trades, Computer Network Technology, Computer Maintenance/Design/Repair, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Electronics, Electrical Trades, Food Production Management and Service, Health Science Technology (Clinical Rotation and Nursing Tech Prep), and Welding. All courses are meant to be completed in two years.
Student activities and awards
- The Memorial Cheerleaders are the 2006 UCA Cheerleading National Champions and were congressionally commended for their national performance
- The Memorial High School Dance & Drill team are 8 time National Champions .
- The UIL Academic team won the Region IV 5A championship in 2005.
- The Vipers girls golf team are Region IV Champions for 2006 and state finalist and are also the state champions for 2004.
