Mentoring is a tool for helping children and youth succeed in life. Although nearly 17.6-million young Americans need or want a mentor
, only about three million are in formal, high-quality mentoring relationships. That means nearly 15-million young people are still in need today.
MENTOR’s mission is to expand the power of mentoring to the millions of young Americans who want or need adult role models.
MENTOR shares information, national standards, and best practices so that the mentoring community can work effectively and efficiently. It works with the organizations that directly match and oversee the mentor-mentee pairs, and helps individuals .
Throughout the month of January - National Mentoring Month
- and year-round, the , MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership, and the are spearheading the effort to raise awareness of ways that individuals can lend their support to this important cause. People interested in becoming mentors are asked to go to , where they can find organizations offering mentoring opportunities in their local community.
