The
Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center or the
MAR JCC, or as the locals call it "
the J", is a
Jewish Community Center in the
United States. It is located in
North Miami Beach, Florida, a suburb of
Miami.
Amenities
The JCC has tennis courts, soccer field(s), football field(s), indoor/outdoor basketball courts, indoor/outdoor swimming pool, a gymnasium and a fitness center. The fitness center includes a sauna, weight room, treadmills and other machines. The JCC basketball courts are currently owned by David Cohen.
Maccabi Tzair <small>(formerly Hebraica)</small>
Maccabi Tzair is an organization based in the MAR JCC. This is a Jewish based organization based on teaching kids about Judaism in a fun way. One Major event is the Maccabi Games (see maccabi games). They also host many other activities including carnivals, and overnight trips or "Machanes" in Hebrew in order to complete their mission. They also have a program "olam hayeled" which holds activities every Saturday afternoon for kids. Madrichim (in Hebrew) are the counselors of the kids in the activity.
Maccabi Games
The Maccabi Games are a sporting event (much like the
