Mongolia competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.No Mongolian athlete has won a gold medal, though the country can claim five silver and eight bronze medals.

Mongolia entered twenty competitors in the 2004 Games. 20 year old judoka Khashbaataryn Tsagaanbaatar won their only medal when he defeated Kenji Uematsu of Spain in the bronze medal contest of the 60 kg category on August 14.

Luvsanlkhündegiin Otgonbayar finished more than an hour behind the winner, and more than thirty minutes behind the next-to-last runner in the women's marathon. In the men's marathon, Bat-Ochiryn Ser-Od finished just twenty minutes behind the winning time.
