My Love” is a love song by
Paul McCartney & Wings, and is the most successful track from their 1973 album
Red Rose Speedway. McCartney wrote it about his feelings for his wife
Linda, who was also in the band.
The song was recorded live with an orchestra at
Olympic Studios. It contains a guitar solo by the
Irish guitarist
Henry McCullough, then part of the Wings line-up. McCartney said in 2010 about the solo:
“My Love” was also released as a single in March 1973, reaching number one on the U.S.
Billboard Hot 100 and number nine in the
UK Singles Chart. The song also went to number one on the
Easy Listening charts for three weeks. The single was certified Gold by the
Recording Industry Association of America for sales of over one million copies.
The song also appeared on the Wings compilation album
Wings Greatest (1978) and the Paul McCartney compilation album
All the Best! (1987) Live versions appear on
Back in the World (2002) and
Good Evening New York City (2009).
