OBE TV (Original Black Entertainment TV) is a Britishtelevision channel launched in September 2003. It shows film, food, advertisements, sports and talk shows as well as church service programmes. The channel is aimed at black audiences, and shows programmes from South Africa, Nigeria and Ghana. Its programmes are primarily taken from the South African Broadcasting Corporation (the SABC's news broadcasts are shown frequently), but it does broadcast Nollywood productions. The channel is known for often disappearing from the EPG without explanation before reappearing weeks or months later.
The channel is also produced on a low budget meaning that technical problems can take days to be fixed and also the channel idents and channel adverts are produced with Microsoft Powerpoint.
A timeshifted service named OBE +1 launched on Thursday 29 November 2007 and it was replaced by DMAX on 8 January 2008.
