Palmeiras de Goiás is a small city and municipality in southestern Goiás state, Brazil.

Location

Palmeiras de Goiás is located in the statistical micro-region of Vale do Rio dos Bois at a distance of 88 kilometers from the state capital, Goiânia. It is 26 kilometers from Cezarina and the important BR-060 highway. Connections with Goiânia are made by GO-060 / Trindade / GO-050 / Campestre de Goiás / GO-156.Neighboring municipalities are:

• south: Indiara
• east: Campestre de Goiás
• west: Palminópolis

In 2007 the population density was 13.77 inhab/km². In 2007 there were 16,763 people living in the urban area and 4,436 people living in the rural area. The population has decreased by about 3,000 people since 1980.

Economic Information

The main economic activity is cattle raising. The cultivated area is approximately 1,500 km². The main products grown are corn, rice, cotton, soybeans, beans, tomato, oranges, and guava.
