Pero Budmani (Dubrovnik/Ragusa, October 27, 1835 - Castel Ferretti, Ancona, December 27, 1914), was a Dalmatian linguist and philologist.

Under the strong influence of publications and physiognomy language of Vuk Karadzic, Serb-Catholics circle member`s, after that Budmani crossed the unitary Yugoslav Camp. After schooling Budmani pass the exam for "high school candidates, and his capacity came into service in Dubrovnik School. He showed your talent for languages and mathematics, and early learned Italian, German, French, English, Latin, Greek, which is the extended life of mastering Russian, Polish, Sanskrit, Persia, Arabic, and weaker Turkish, Chinese , Finnish, Norwegian, Hungarian and Swahili. Budmani lived in Castel-Ferretti in Ancona where the family has had a farm, taking part in the Irredentism Movement for unity of Italy and its liberation from the Austrian.

Budmani is the first in used the name Serbo-Croatian in his book of grammar (Grammatica della lingua serbo-croata; Vienna, 1867). The Vukovian-based effort of language standardization lasted the remainder of the century, and culminated in the 1899 publication of Tomo Maretić’s Gramatika i stilistika hrvatskoga ili srpskoga književnog jezika (Grammar and Stylistics of the Croatian or Serbian Literary Language).His Italian grammar written in delicate shapes introduced in both linguistic school (eg, "phonetic" and "etymological 'spelling, older and newer forms of Štokavian dialect). the...
