Description:
"Pilot" is the first episode of the first season of American Dad!. It follows a similar plot line from the American Dad! short from Fever Pitch, with noticeably changes to the animation of Steve It was originally premiered on Fox on February 6, 2005. It was written by series creators Seth MacFarlane, Mike Barker, and Matt Weitzman, and directed by Ron Hughart. The pilot introduces the Smith family, father Stan, mother Francine, daughter Hayley, son Steve, pet goldfish Klaus, and alien Roger. It guest stars Carmen Electra, Chris Cox, and Natasha Melnick.

Plot

During breakfast Steve Smith announces that he plans to ask out Lisa Silver, the head cheerleader at his school, and his mother Francine puts Roger, the alien who is living with the Smiths, on a diet, fearing that he may be getting fat. Steve is rejected by Lisa but on the way home notices a girl attracted to a man with a dog, he therefore decides to ask his parents for one. His father Stan gets him a 19-year-old dog (133 dog years old), thinking it has character (because it lived during Ronald Reagan's presidency). Later that night Stan accidentally shoots it thinking it was an intruder. At the funeral, Steve's sister Hayley chides Stan for killing the dog because conservatives oppose gun control, but Stan replies by trying and failing to fart.
