It is almost 40 KM away from its summer capital Srinagar. The District has two big colleges, one in Pulwama and the another in Tral.one university namely islamic university is also present in awantipora pulwama. Apple and zafran are the main crops of district pulwama.Rice,wheat,maize,mutard is also grown here in abundance.Land of pulwama is very fertile, if utilized properly will certainly generate revenue that will fulfill need of each and every individual of the district and adjacent areas.Pulwama is often called the 'Anand of Kashmir' or 'Dudha-Kul of Kashmir' on account of its high milk production.Pulwama is one of the pretty spots on the earth, because of its congenial climate, streams, water falls, fragrant flowers delicious fruits , innumerable springs and other natural sceneries.
