Rampura is a town and a
nagar panchayat in the
Neemuch district of the
Indian state of
Madhya Pradesh. It is located at and has an average elevation of 391
metres (1282
feet).

History
A small town in the Aravalis, Rampura now is only a faint reminder of its past glory. The town had a martial past; there were many battles here between the Rajputs, Marathas, Mughals and British forces. It is located on the west side of the
Chambal River. Its location–-connecting
Malwa with
Rajputana, through the Mukundara Pass --made Rampura strategically important to all those with territorial ambitions, and, consequently, a political shuttle cock.
It hosts an old palace, seven lakes, various Hindu and Jain temples, and hundreds of ruins. The Chandrawats–-an offshoot of the Mewar's
Sisodias--ruled the paragana (district) of Rampura, and held the title of “Rao.”
