Description:
The Repeal of Act for Securing Dependence of Ireland Act 1782 (22. Geo. III, c. 53) was an Act of Parliament of the Parliament of Great Britain passed on 17 April 1782. As suggested by the title, it served to repeal the entirety of the Dependency of Ireland on Great Britain Act 1719. It was itself repealed by the Statute Law Revision Act 1871. It acknowledged the exclusive right of the Parliament of Ireland to legislate for Ireland, and the exclusive jurisdiction in Ireland of the Irish Courts. The Act gave practical effect to the series of legislative changes already passed by the Parliament of Ireland and the British Parliament, most notably the amendment of Poyning's Law.
