Reshma Aur Shera

Reshma Aur Shera (Devanagari: रेशमा और शेरा, Nastaliq: ریشما اور شیرا, translation: "Reshma and Shera")is a 1971 Hindi film starring Waheeda Rehman as Reshma and Sunil Dutt as Shera. Sunil Dutt had also produced and directed the film. The film also stars Vinod Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Raakhee and Amrish Puri. Sunil Dutt's son Sanjay Dutt who was 12 years at the time appears briefly as a qawali singer in his first film appearance.

The film was well received by the critics internationally, New York Times. and was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 22nd Berlin International Film Festival, and was Indian submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film for the year 1971.

The film won music director, Jaidev, his first National Film Award for Best Music Direction in 1972, noted for classics like, Ek meethi si chuban, ek thandi si agan (Lyrics by Udhav Kumar) and Tu chanda main Chandini sung by Lata Mangeshkar (Lyrics by Balkavi Bairagi).

Synopsis
