Description:
River Plate Football Club was a sports club from Uruguay, founded in 1897 in Montevideo, the country's capital.

River Plate is considered one of the four giants of the first era in Uruguayan football, alongside rivals Montevideo Wanderers and the current two bigs: CURCC(PeƱarol) and Club Nacional de Football. River reached important achievements in the amateur era of the national football. In fact, the national side's uniform is a sky blue shirt in tribute to this team victories with their alternative sky blue shirt over Argentina's Alumni Athletic Club, the most important club of the amateur era in Argentina, against which River remained unbeaten.

After the second decade of the twentieth century, the club entered in ostracism and disappeared in 1929.
