Romany Wisdom is a
fictional supporting character published by
Marvel Comics. She first appeared in
Pryde and Wisdom #2 (October 1996), and was created by
Warren Ellis and
Terry Dodson.
Fictional character biography
Romany Wisdom is also the sister to X-Men ally,
Pete Wisdom, and a former agent of the Royal Metropolitan Police's Department of Unusual Death (Department F.66).
Born in England like her brother Peter Wisdom, nothing is known about Romany's childhood past after her mother died. Following those years, Romany met and fell in love with Joseph Chapman, aka the third man to wear the
Union Jack super-hero mantle. Eventually, they broke up under vague circumstances, but apparently remained friends afterward. She even constantly helped Jack during his super-hero adventures, at least when her expertise allowed. She's an obsessed history fanatic, and knows much about ancient cultures, even such secret races as vampires.
However, Romany did lose contact with her family, including Pete, for years. In order to make headway in his investigation, Pete was forced to make contact with his estranged family - visiting his borderline-senile father, Harold, to get a professional profiling on the killer, and his sister, Romany, who could translate the symbols on the bodies.
