Ruth Madoc (born 16 April 1943 in Norwich) is a Welsh actress and singer. Early life

Born Ruth Llewellyn to parents who travelled around Britain for much of her childhood, she was brought up by her grandmother in Llansamlet near Swansea. Later she attended RADA in London.


After RADA Ruth worked in The Black and White Minstrel Show.

Her first husband was the actor, Philip Madoc. They had a son, Rhys, and a daughter, Lowri, but eventually divorced.

Ruth Madoc played Fruma Sarah in the 1971 film version of the musical Fiddler on the Roof, and appeared as Mrs Dai Bread Two in the 1972 film of Under Milk Wood.Marsh, Gary (2008) "", Cynon Valley Leader, 3 JUly 2008, retrieved 2010-11-03 She also appeared regularly on BBC Wales in the entertainment programme Poems and Pints. She was also one of the alien voices in the Cadbury's Smash advertisements in the 1970s.
