Saleem Kidwai, Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Wales, fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming part of Cardiff University when he became an honorary fellow. Mr Saleem Asghar Kidwai OBE is also Chief Executive of the Ethnic Business Support Programme, an initiative to encourage and support members from the ethnic community at pre-business start-up stages.

This project is run on behalf of the Welsh Assembly Government.

Mr Kidwai is an accountant and a consultant in an accountancy firm in Cardiff.

He is a Non-Executive director of Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust and Chair of its Audit Committee, and Director of Business Dragons-E-Chambers Limited.

Mr. Kidwai has also been the Chief Executive, Ethnic Business Support Programme, an initiative to encourage and support members from the ethnic community to start business and provide them with business support..

This project was being run on behalf of Welsh Assembly Government. In this project Mr Kidwai was involved from ‘Preconception to delivery’.

This project helped to start over 600 businesses and created over 4000 jobs.

Mr Kidwai is the Chairman of Islamic Banking and Finance Centre UK

He has been working with and among the ethnic communities for over two decades but since 2001 he has been very closely involved in the grass roots of the ethnic communities.

Mr Kidwai came from Karachi, Pakistan in 1971 to study Accountancy.
