Salgaocar Sports Club, found in 1956, is an
Indian professional
football club based in
Vasco,
Goa. They are owned by the V. M. Salgaocar Group of Companies. They play in the
I-League and
Goa Professional League.
Salgaocar SC became the first Goan side to win the
NFL in 1998-99 under the guidance of coach Shabbir Ali.
Fatorda Stadium is their home ground located in
Margao. Salgaocar SC have won nineteen Goa League Champions, three Federation Cups, two Super Cups, two Durand Cups and won the National Football League in 1998-1999. Their home jersey is green shirt with white shorts while the away jersey is red/white or yellow/blue.
The Salagaocar is also one of the oldest football clubs in the country and has been the mentor of several well known football players in the country. Eminent players and Arjuna awardees like Bruno Coutinho, Bramhanand Shankhwalkar has been associated with this club for long. Salgoacar club mainly plays in the I-League and Goa Professional League.The Salgaocar Sports Club has a very loyal fan following in the state.
