Sandi Thom was born in Banff
, Aberdeenshire. She attended Robert Gordon's College
At the age of 17, Thom became the youngest ever student to be accepted at the prestigious Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts
(LIPA). with a BA (Hons) in Performing Arts
, and she pursued a carer as a professional musician.
Thom has assisted charity appeals for Oxfam
's work in Malawi.
Thom was at one stage engaged to her colleague and producer Jake Field, and was later in a relationship with blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa. After moving to Brighton and London she has since relocated back to Scotland.
