Description:
The Monastery of Santa María la Real de las Huelgas is a Cistercian convent in the Spanish city of Valladolid.

The convent was designated a national monument in 1931.

The early history of the Valladolid convent is obscure, but the name implies that it was founded by royalty. Queen María de Molina gave the community a palace as accommodation. Of this building a gateway survives, Valladolid's only example of Mudéjar art.
