Sergio Romero

Sergio Germán Romero (born February 22, 1987 in Bernardo de Irigoyen, Misiones) is an Argentine football player who currently plays for AZ in the Netherlands and the Argentina national team.

Club career

Romero moved in 2007 for around €1.5million from Racing Club to AZ. In April, his team became Eredivisie champions in the 31st round of matches, with three games to spare.

International career

Romero represented Argentina at the 2007 South American Youth Championship in Paraguay and at the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Canada, which Argentina went on to win, and replaced injured Óscar Ustari at the 2008 Summer Olympics football tournament. Romero was named in Diego Maradona's final squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and played in all five of Argentina's matches.
