Shivamani is a 2003 Telugu film written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. The film was Jagannadh's first time working with actor Akkineni Nagarjuna. Asin Thottumkal and Rakshitha play the female leads while Prakash Raj plays the villain. This film is inspired by Message in a Bottle - the Nicolas Sparks novel and film.

The hero: Sivamani (Akkineni Nagarjuna) is a very honest cop in Vizag. He falls in love with Vasanta (Asin Thottumkal), a beautiful heroine who aspires to become a singer. The villain: a mafia guy called Dattu (Prakash Raj), whom Shivamani troubles a lot.

Incidentally, Vasanta is distantly related to Dattu and both of them belong to Kerala. In the course of events, Sivamani's mother (Sangeeta) gets paralyzed. Sivamani and Vasanta take her to Kerala to get the state's Ayurveda special treatments. Dattu is also in Kerala and his mission is to get his revenge by taking Vasanta away from our hero. The rest of the story is all about how Sivamani gets back Vasanta with the help of newspaper editor Pallavi (Rakshitha). The twist is that Vasanta loses her voice and becomes mute after Dattu punctured her voice box.
