The
Shropshire Star is a regional newspaper covering the whole of
Shropshire, plus parts of
Herefordshire,
Worcestershire,
Cheshire, the
Llangollen area and northern
Powys in the
United Kingdom.
About
The editor is Sarah-Jane Smith, who took over from Adrian Faber when he became editor of the
Star's sister paper the
Express & Star in Wolverhampton.
The paper has been in circulation since Monday, October 5, 1964 inheriting a nightly circulation of around 19,000 from the old Shropshire edition of the
Express & Star.
Its editorial headquarters are in
Telford where it is also printed.
There are seven editions of the paper, which are published daily Monday to Saturday - Midday, Powys, Oswestry, North Shropshire, South/Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury and Last, which primarily serves the Telford area.
The headquarters also print the weekly series - a further three paid-for publications, one part-paid/part-free and three free distribution publications. The
Shrewsbury Chronicle is among the weekly series. The
Shropshire Magazine is also based in the same offices and produced monthly.
The
Shropshire Star is owned by the
Midland News Association which also owns the
Express and Star newspaper.
Within the circulation area, the
Shropshire Star has an average issue readership of 171,837 adults.
