It acquires the major elevation peak from sea level among all other places in this region.

It is located to the south of Erode City, to the North-west of Karur town, to the west of Namakkal town and to the East of Tirupur City.

And also to the west of Kodumudi, The Cauvery River also takes a deep twist in its whole flow from the south towards the east about to the west of Kodumudi.


India census, Sivagiri had a population of 22,285. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Sivagiri has an average literacy rate of 65%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 55%. In Sivagiri, 9% of the population is under 6 years of age.


Sivagiri (Siva + Giri) has got its name, since it was a peak during earlier 2000 years, where Lord Shiva has a Temple at the hill found here. Which is now found at the Ground level on-with Sunai Parai(Olden hill), at the centre of the town. Currently the major town concentrates at the Maada(CAR) streets of this temple.


Now this temple is found devoted for sri Velayudha Swami , which is found with South India's Third Largest Temple Car.The Temple Car festivel is grantly celebrated duringchittirai pournami.
