Sleuth is a digital cable television channel with programming dedicated to the crime and mystery genres. It is owned and operated by NBCUniversal, and is the fourth latest addition to their line up of digital cable TV channels (after The Weather Channel, Oxygen and Chiller). It launched on January 1, 2006, replacing Trio. Sleuth debuted on DIRECTV on June 1, 2006, and on Dish Network nine days later.

Sleuth focuses on mystery entertainment while channels such as Investigation Discovery and Crime & Investigation Network focus on mystery education. As of 2011, the majority of the channel's programming is borrowed from sister USA Network.

On Friday, April 8, 2011, TV Guide reported that NBCUniversal is changing the name of and rebranding Sleuth to a brand new name, Cloo, in order to be able to trademark and own the name, as NBCUniversal cannot do either with the name Sleuth or Clue (as Hasbro owns the rights to the latter)., TV Guide, April 7, 2011


In 2008, Sleuth, Universal HD, and Chiller moved from Los Angeles to New York; when the channels movement was complete, Sleuth and Universal HD reported to USA Network, while Chiller reported to Syfy.
