Description:
St. Xavier's College is located in Kolkata, India, and is named after St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint of the 16th century, who traveled to India. It is an autonomous college affiliated to the University of Calcutta. It gained autonomy in July 2006, thus becoming the first autonomous college of West Bengal, India.

St. Xavier's has produced outstanding alumni in the fields of business, politics, literature, cinema and education. Amongst the 8 individual Olympic medal winners that India is credited with, Xavier's has produced 2 Olympic medal winners and in the field of business, the institution has produced 2 billionaires including the richest Indian and also produced Nepal's first graduate in 1906.
