Earlier, He was the Home Minister of the state of Jharkhand, in Arjun Munda's second Chief Minister phase and the leader of the All Jharkhand Students Union. He represents Silli, in the district of Ranchi, in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly.

In addition to the portfolio of Home Minister, he was also responsible for prisons, road construction, building construction, and art, culture, youth affairs and sports.
