"
Summer Love" is a song by American recording artist
Justin Timberlake. The song was written and produced by Timberlake,
Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley, and
Nate "Danja" Hills, for Timberlake's second studio album,
FutureSex/LoveSounds. The song was released as a
radio single. It debuted on the
Billboard Hot 100 at #74 and peaked at #6. The
FutureSex/LoveSounds digital download version has "Summer Love" as a solo purchase without "Set the Mood Prelude", while the prelude is attached to "
Until the End of Time". The CD pressing contains the prelude at the end of "Summer Love".
The song is the fourth single from
FutureSex/LoveSounds to reach #1 on Mediabase's Mainstream Top 40 chart, making Timberlake the first artist ever to have four straight Top 40 radio #1's from the same album. For the German, Australian and New Zealand market there was a live performance released as music video for the song. "Summer Love" was ineligible to chart in Australia at the time however, as it was only released as a digital download there, and sales of such were not counted as part of the main singles chart until months later (it peaked at number 14 on the digital track chart, however). In Europe the single's B-side was "
Until the End of Time".
Pittsburgh rapper, Mac Miller, sampled "Summer Love" in his song "Snapback".
