Suriname competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Athletics

At age 39, Vriesde was the oldest woman competing the 800 metres by a full two years, but the 2001 World Championships bronze medalist still managed to make the semifinal. Sibe ran the slowest 800 metres of the Olympics on the men's side.

Men's 800 metres:
*Round 1 — 2:00.06 (→ 8th in heat 9, did not advance, 72nd overall)


Women's 800 metres:
*Round 1 — 2:01.70 (4th in heat 3, Qualified, 15th overall)
*Semifinal — 2:06.95 (→ 8th in semifinal 3, did not advance, 24th overall)


Swimming

Men's 100 metre Butterfly:
*Heat — 56.68 (→ did not advance, 51st place)


Women's 50 metre Freestyle:
*Heat — 29.27 (→ did not advance, 54th place)
