Sushil Kumar Modi (born 5 January 1952) is an
Indian politician from the
Bharatiya Janata Party and is the
Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, India. He is a lifelong member of the
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
In January 2011, after the rape victim Rupam Pathak stabbed and killed her alleged rapist BJP MLA
Raj Kishore Kesri, Modi said she had been blackmailing him, Several womens' groups and opposition parties demanded his resignation, but the furore quietened down after investigations were shifted to the
CBI.

Early life
Sushil Kumar Modi is the son of readymade garment-merchant Moti Lal Modi and his wife Ratna Devi, of Patna. He studied at a number of schools before graduating in 1st division from the Ram Mohan Roy Seminary, Patna.He then went to the Commerce College and B.N.College, Patna, before joining the
Patna Science College, graduating with Botany Hons in 1973 (2nd in Univ). During his student years, he had joined
Jai Prakash Narayan's movement, and was elected to the Patna University Students Union in 1971. He became General Secretary of the Union in 1973 when
Lalu Prasad Yadav was the President.
In 1962, at age 10, Modi joined the
Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and was involved in Civil Defence groups during the
