Description:
is a city located in Fukushima, Japan. The city was founded on March 1, 2005 from the merger of the former towns of Funehiki, Ōgoe, Takine, and Tokiwa and the former village of Miyakoji, all from Tamura District.

As of May 2011, the city has an estimated population of 39,876. The total area is 458.30 km².

Landmarks

The town of Takine houses two well-known local attractions: Abukuma Limestone Caves and The Hoshi no Mura ("Village of Stars") Observatory. Both are popular tourist attractions.

Ohtakadoyayama Transmitter is an LF-time signal transmitter in Miyakoji-cho. It is used for transmitting the time signal JJY on 40 kHz. It uses as transmission antenna a 250 metre tall guyed mast with an umbrella antenna, which is insulated against ground.
