Description:
Thangachimadam is a village in the central part of Rameswaram which is a holy island in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It is separated from the mainland by Pamban channel. Languages spoken include Tamil and English.

Economy

The main occupation of people live here is fishing and its allied occupations. Also coconut and jasmine farming activities exist at a considerable level.

Holy places

There are 3 Lord Ganapathy Shrine and lord Murugan Shrine and lord Manikanda Shrine inside this temple. Mainly, this is the temple of lord Murugan and represents Lord Bala Thandayuthapani of Palani in Tamil Nadu.Idol of BalaThandayuthupani is beautifully en carved and maintained properly by devotees of Thangachimadam. Daily rituals are always performed with much enthusiasm.Premises of the temple has wonderful ambience containing coconut trees and cleanly maintained pond.Festival of sasti which comes after deepavali is auspicious in this temple.

On their way from Sri Lanka, Sita felt thirsty. Because there was no way to drink water at that time Rama stuck an arrow in the sea.
