Description:
The Alameda is a historic street in San Jose and Santa Clara California. Except for the last few blocks of The Alameda on the Santa Clara end, the road is signed as a part of State Route 82. The road was built in the late eighteenth century by Native American neophytes at Mission Santa Clara de Asís to link the mission with El Pueblo de San José de Guadalupe. The residents of the town used the tree-lined path to attend Sunday Mass at the mission chapel prior to the construction of St. Joseph's Church.

The Alameda is a part of the longer and more well known El Camino Real to the north and continues to the east as Santa Clara Street through Downtown San Jose.

The Rose Garden neighborhood lies to the west of The Alameda and the College Park neighborhood to the east. The Alameda, which now runs from Santa Clara University past the HP Pavilion, and into downtown San Jose is a major thoroughfare in the Silicon Valley.
