In 2006 and 2005, The Herald Journal received first-place honors in the Associated Press association's 10,000-50,000 circulation paper category for its coverage of an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement raid on a Hyrum, Utah meat packing plant, and its coverage of a van crash that killed several Utah State University students and a professor, respectively.
