The Second Skylanders Game Skylanders Giants

A follow up to the game Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure, is due for release in fall 2012, and known as Skylanders Giants. The publisher Activision revealed this news at the New York Toy Fair in Feb . of this year. Pertaining to individuals new to the Skylanders Sensation, Skylanders has successfully bridged the gap between video games and real world toys. The video game Skylanders comes in a starter pack, together with 3 skylanders characters and a Portal of Power, and is available for the 3DS, PC, PS3, WII and XBox 360. The toys and the video game are linked with each other by the Portal of Power.The Skylanders character is instantly transported to the Skylands and ready to battle in a world of adventure, the instant you place the figure on the portal. You can play one at a time or with or against friends, and players act as Portal Masters helping to guard the magical world of Skylands.. The player just takes the Skylander off the portal and replaces it with another to change the Skylanders Character they are playing with. Two Skylanders figures are placed on the portal to enable 2 people to play with or against each other.

There are at present 32 different Skylanders figures to acquire. The figures are categorized in 8 distinct elements: Air, Tech, Earth, Life, Water, Undead, Magic and Fire. Each individual Skylander group possesses their own abilities and failings. In addition to these characters you will find legendary versions of four figures, a Dark Spyro, limited to 3DS and the very rare gold and silver Skylanders. Parents will be happy to hear that any of these original Skylanders Figures are entirely transferrable to the new game. The customisations and levels that a character may have already gained will also be transferred to the new game.

There are eight brand new Skylanders Giants figures, in the forthcoming Skylanders Giants Game. The Giants are about twice the size of regular Skylanders, and light up when positioned on the Portal of Power. A Life Skylander, named Tree Rex, was the onlyl Skylanders Giant to be unveiled at the show. Apparently the new Giant Skylanders will have in game abilities never seen before, and are able to use their brute force to their benefit. Four additional Skylanders Figures that will light up when placed on the Portal of Power, will also be released. We know that one of these characters is Prism Break. Adding to the collection will be eight totally new Skylanders, again probably one for each element. Finally, twenty four of the Skylanders from the first game are to be re-released. We're advised the only difference in these characters, would be that the real life toys will be in different poses and carring different weapons.

With the last remaining Skylanders to be released from Spyro's Adventure and the upcoming release of Skylanders Giants, there is certainly a lot to look ahead to in the next six months. Stay tuned for more up to date information.
