Route description

It passes through the states of South Carolina and Georgia. It goes through the cities of Columbia, South Carolina and Sumter, South Carolina. Beginning in Sumter, the route is overlapped by U.S. Route 76 for approximately until they diverge in Columbia. Shortly before diverging, U.S. Route 378 is overlapped by U.S. Route 1 in Columbia until crossing over the Congaree River into West Columbia, SC and diverging.
