Valentin Stocker (born 12 April 1989 in Lucerne) is a Swiss international footballer who plays as a midfielder for FC Basel in the Swiss Super League.



Stocker came through the ranks at FC Basel and was moved in to the full team ahead of the 2007/08 season after becoming one of the best midfielders in the reserve squad.

He made his European debut for FC Basel in a UEFA Cup tie against Austrian side SV Mattersburg at St. Jakob Park on 16 August 2007. On 16 March 2008 he scored his first Super League goal for Basel in a 4–2 loss against FC Sion.


Stocker has played international football at various age levels, including Under-19s. He made his debut for Switzerland in Ottmar Hitzfeld's first match as manager, on 20 August 2008 in a 4–1 win over Cyprus at Stade de Genève. He also scored the opening goal of the match.
