Valiant Entertainment, also known as Valiant Comics, is a character-based entertainment company founded in 1989.
Valiant became one of the largest companies in the comic book industry during the 1990s, selling over 80 million comic books. The Valiant characters have been published in multiple languages and distributed globally. Diamond Comics Distributors, the leading distributor of comic books and graphic novels, named Valiant the "Best Publisher over 5% Market Share” in 1993. It is the only company in the industry’s history to challenge Marvel Comics and DC Comics’ market leading positions.
The Valiant characters have also been the basis for video games franchises with sales exceeding $300 million. Video games based on Valiant characters have sold over eight million units and grossed $300 million. Examples include the Shadowman franchise and Iron Man and X-O Manowar in Heavy Metal, which featured Valiant’s X-O Manowar alongside Marvel'sIron Man.
