Vanasthalipuram () is a outer part
Hyderabad and belongs to
L. B. Nagar zone. It is situated 13
km from the heart of the city. It is located near the
Vijayawada Highway, NH-9. It is a residential area with a peaceful atmosphere and abundant greenery. It is now the hub of commercial activity with a rapidly expanding commercial business, transforming the colony into a town-like atmosphere. Hill Colony, Sachivalayanagar, NGO's Colony, BN Reddy Colony, Prashanthnagar etc. are some of the famous colonies in Vanasthalipuram, which has rich infrastructure, good access to all kinds of things. It is also one of the peaceful and second largest colonies in Hyderabad.
During the rule of the
Nizam of Hyderabad, the area was a dense woods with wild animals and was famous as a hunting ground or
shikarghar(hunting ground in
Urdu) of the Nizams. Hence the name
Vanasthalipuram (
Vana="forest"+
sthali="place"+
puram-a
Telugu postfix for a locality or site). Due to its serene surroundings and real estate cost, the place has become one of the preferred residential areas for people working in the city. In spite of being an integral part of Hyderabad, It provides an alternative to the hustles of a city, with a peaceful environment.
