Viacom Entertainment Store was a proposed chain of merchandise stores, created in the wake of stores like The Disney Store and The Warner Brothers Studio Store, which sold merchandise and other products based on the owned licensed properties of the entertainment companies which owned the stores. The first (and only) store opened on Michigan Avenue as part of the Magnificent Mile shopping district in Chicago on May 22, 1997, the grand opening party was attended by celebrities such as Jon Bon Jovi and Jenny McCarthy The store sold mostly merchandise based on Viacom owned properties, including Star Trek, Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, and other Paramount Pictures properties. In addition there were also 15 Nickelodeon stores (one located at the Mall of America is now a part of the Nickelodeon Universe indoor amusement park) and a theme restaurant was planned. The store in Chicago was not successful and closed after being opened for less than two years..
