The
West Village is a retail-residential development in the
Cityplace and
Uptown area of
Dallas,
Texas. The West Village is located at the northern end of Uptown along McKinney Avenue and is bordered by Lemmon Avenue, Cole Avenue, Haskell Drive and
Central Expressway. West Village has approximately 170 residential units situated above of retail, restaurant and entertainment tenants. Like the established urban neighborhoods around it, West Village is pet and pedestrian-friendly.
History
West Village, opened in 2001, was built on one of the last large undeveloped tracts that was cleared in the 1980s for the
CityPlace West Tower. The original complex designed by architect
David Schwarz is a
mixed-use development managed by CWS Partners out of California and Gables Properties headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. The name West Village has no relation to the
neighborhood bearing the same name in
New York City, but takes its name from being at the west portal of
Cityplace Station and the western side of the
Cityplace neighborhood. Over subsequent years the development has expanded east across Blackburn Street and south across McKinney Avenue.
