1. The design of your duct work is crucial for the utmost performance of your HVAC equipment
2. A cheaper system with a correct duct layout often performs more efficiently than a high SEER layout with a poor duct design
3. You will have much higher heating and cooling utility bills with a less efficient duct layout
4. Your unit will run more often and for longer periods of time trying to service your house if the D duct layout is poorly designed
5. Your heating and cooling equipment can ruin compressors if the wrong D duct design causes an improper air flow
6. Inadequate air distribution can also result in your air conditioning coil freezing up in the summer months
7. You will have uneven temperature distribution throughout your house causing a GoldiLocks Home - some rooms will be too hot in the summer and other areas will be too cool in the winter
8. Often contractors will just install an oversized air system instead of opening walls & ceilings to correct the poorly designed duct work causing a brand new set of issues
9. Because the heat and cooling system is working harder to overcome the D duct design issues, the unit may not work as long as it should
10. If the ductwork is sealed poorly or has leaks, you can develop dampness and possibly mold issues due to condensation in the unconditioned attic or crawlspace
11. Your heating and cooling equipment design, choice and installation either increase or decrease the comfort of the occupants and the value of your home - Insist on an ACCA Compliant Manual D duct design!
